Description

RAID Series Shock – Rear

RAID Series red painted internally rebound-adjustable twin-tube low-pressure gas-charged shock absorber.

With many years experience in shock absorber design and manufacturing, KONI – the leader in Heavy Duty dampers for buses, trucks, trailers, military applications, and railway – decided to combine its high level of technology and its 4×4 market knowledge to create a new range of offroad shocks dedicated to the raiders. KONI RAID offroad shocks are reliable high quality replacement performance parts for customers who seek a non sophisticated but effective product to do the jobs it’s designed for; to finish offroad raids. The RAID Series utilizes twin-tube technology, and has an outer tube thickness of 2.5mm; damper function is guaranteed in case of deformation of outer tube by impact of rocks. With a larger bore (70mm), oil volume has been doubled, allowing for better cooling & efficiency. All RAID Series products have solid, robust, 360 welded attachments. Additionally, you have the possibility to adjust the rebound forces in order to adapt your damper to your springs and/or loads and so increase its life-span.

Features:

  • Big bore (70mm)
  • Attachments welded all around (360)
  • Progressive hydraulic rebound stop valve
  • Extra security in case of big compression impact
  • Easy Fitting
  • Vehicle modifications not necessary

What ARE Twin-Tube Shocks?

Twin-tube design shock absorbers, sometimes referred to as hydraulic or gas-hydraulic shock absorbers, have two tubes one for the piston to work in and one known as a reservoir tube for the excess oil to move in and out of. As the piston rod moves in and out of the shock the oil moves through valves between the two tubes ensuring controlled damping occurs to control the suspension of the vehicle. When the piston rod is pushed in, oil flows without resistance from below the piston through the orifices and the non-return valve to the volume above the piston. Simultaneously, a quantity of oil is displaced and forced to flow through the bottom valve into the reservoir tube. The resistance, encountered by the oil on passing through the bottom valve, generates the bump damping. When the piston rod is pulled out, the oil above the piston is pressurized and forced to flow through the piston. The resistance, encountered by the oil on passing through the piston, generates the rebound damping.

Internal Adjustment

KONI developed and manufactured the first adjustable telescopic shock absorbers and continue to innovate adjustment technology in each product. KONI Internal Adjustment is used on the Twin-tube design shock absorbers. This type of adjustment is made with the shock fully compressed and off the vehicle. With some internal adjustment shock absorbers, a bump stop must be removed from the dust cover prior to adjustment. The adjustment process in this shock absorber does not have set clicks, rather the adjuster nut provides the freedom to fine tune your settings to suit your car needs. To adjust, gently and with care fully collapse the shock absorber. When you feel it hit the bottom and stop, slowly turn the piston rod or dust cover to the left (counterclockwise) until you feel the cams of the adjustment nut engage into the foot / bottom valve assembly.
